The Kamaishi Sakura Festival takes place here every three years. The daimyo procession under the cherry trees in full bloom is a must-see.

Sakuragicho Kogawa Riverside

Location：Sakuragicho, Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture 026-0046
Someiyoshino cherry trees bloom around the Kogawa River. You can see it from National Route 283.

Ishiwarizakura

Location：2-6 Hashinocho, Kamaishi, Iwate 026-0411
Morioka is famous for Ishiwarizakura, but Kamaishi also has three cherry trees blooming between the rocks.

Kamikuribayashi cherry tree

Location：27 Dai 6 Chiwari, Kuribayashicho, Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture 026-0412
It is the largest cherry tree in Kamaishi, designated as a cultural property of the city.

Space cherry tree (Kibo cherry tree)

Location：Hashinocho, Kamaishi, Iwate 026-0411
This is one of the rare “Space Cherry Blossoms”, germinated from the seeds of 14 famous Japanese cherry trees that have travelled through space.
